Modern campus building behind a green lawn

Punggol Digital District (PDD) is a new business district on Punggol’s northern shore, built by JTC around the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol campus. It focuses on digital industries such as cybersecurity and AI, and it will cover about 50 hectares when complete. For residents and visitors, though, what matters is the public side: Punggol Coast Mall, Punggol Coast Hawker Centre, a car-free boulevard, a bus interchange and a heritage trail, all next to Punggol Coast MRT (NE18).

Getting there

Take the North East Line one stop past Punggol to Punggol Coast (NE18), the line’s new terminus since 10 December 2024. The station sits in the middle of the district, next to the mall and the hawker centre. Teck Lee LRT station (PW2) on the West loop opened in August 2024 to serve the district too.

Punggol Coast Bus Interchange opened on 29 June 2025, integrated with the station and the mall. It started with services 34 and 117/117M, which were moved from Punggol Bus Interchange and extended into more of Punggol. Check a journey planner for the current list.

From the town centre, you can also walk or cycle north along the Punggol Waterway and park connectors.

What is open to the public

Punggol Coast Mall

Next to Punggol Coast MRT · opened March 2025

A mall with more than 120 shops and restaurants and an open-air community plaza used for performances and bazaars. Tenants include a FairPrice Finest supermarket, Daiso, Muji and a range of chain restaurants and cafés. Check the mall’s directory for opening hours and current shops.

Punggol Coast Hawker Centre

84 Punggol Way, Level 2 · opened 25 July 2025 · run by Kopitiam for NEA

Forty stalls and about 576 seats, mixing revived “lost and found” hawkers with younger ones. Our Punggol food guide has more on the stalls and on One Punggol Hawker Centre.

Campus Boulevard

About 800 m · pedestrians and cyclists

The spine of the district: a tree-lined street closed to cars that links the MRT station, the mall, the SIT campus and the business park. It makes for a pleasant walk, especially in the evening.

SIT Punggol campus public areas

Singapore Institute of Technology · formally opened 16 September 2025

SIT says the campus floors from Campus Boulevard level (Level 2) downwards are open to the public. These include a community park, a makerspace, the SIT Visitor Gallery and food outlets. Teaching areas above are for students and staff.

Punggol Heritage Trail

Along the old Punggol Road · first 400 m opened 23 August 2025

NParks is turning the old Punggol Road into a 1.3 km walking trail. The first stretch, from Punggol North Avenue to Campus Boulevard, keeps the road’s rolling terrain, coastal forest and old trees, and adds a recreated old-style bus shelter and signs about Kampong Punggol, pig farming and the area’s early zoos. An Adventure Playground and a 70 m Backwoods Trail, themed on childhood games, were due by the end of 2025.

The remaining 900 m of the Heritage Trail is expected by the end of 2026. When complete, it will link Punggol Waterway Park to Punggol Point Park, with access to Coney Island. Punggol Point Park itself is closed for upgrading until 31 December 2027, so the northern end may not be usable straight away.

More companies are also expected to move into the business park over the next few years. Dates can shift, so treat these as planned rather than certain.

Making a day of it

  • Morning: walk the Heritage Trail while it is cool, with the children on the Adventure Playground.
  • Lunch: Punggol Coast Hawker Centre, or a sit-down meal at the mall.
  • Afternoon: head to the coast for Coney Island, which NParks lists with Punggol Coast as its nearest MRT station.

If you live in northern Punggol, Punggol Coast station can save you an LRT ride into the town centre. Check whether walking to NE18 is quicker than your usual LRT route.
