Hougang Sports Centre: Gym, Pool, Stadium, Hall & How to Book
ActiveSG Hougang Sport Centre reopened in May 2026 after a major refresh. Here is what the gym, sports hall, swimming complex and stadium offer, and how to book them.
Hougang’s public sports facilities sit together in the town centre, a short walk from Hougang MRT. ActiveSG Hougang Sport Centre brings together four facilities run by Sport Singapore: an ActiveSG gym, an indoor sports hall, Hougang Swimming Complex and Hougang Stadium. The whole centre closed for improvement works and reopened on 30 May 2026, so if you last visited a couple of years ago, much of it will feel new.
This guide covers what each part offers, when it is open and how to book. Fees change from time to time, so we link to ActiveSG for current rates rather than listing them here.

What changed in the 2026 upgrade
Improvement works were first announced in Parliament in 2024, with the promise of a larger gym, new fitness studios, a sheltered teaching pool, water play, basketball courts and a new running track. Most of that has now arrived. The centre has also been made easier to use for older residents and people with disabilities, with barrier-free access, accessible toilets with hoists and adult changing beds, and sheltered walkways linking the different buildings. A larger drop-off porch can double as an event space.
ActiveSG Gym
Formerly known as Hougang ClubFITT Gym, it has grown from about 570 to 940 square metres. It now includes HUR strength-training machines, which ActiveSG says suit a range of fitness levels, including seniors, alongside the usual cardio and weights areas. An enlarged activity room hosts group classes. You can check live crowd levels on ActiveSG before walking over.
Sports hall
The indoor hall has eight multi-purpose courts for badminton, basketball, volleyball and similar sports, plus four dedicated pickleball courts. Table tennis tables can also be booked. Retractable seating for about 250 people means the hall can host community tournaments and school events, so it is worth checking for closures around big fixtures.
Hougang Swimming Complex
An outdoor pool complex with a main pool, a newly sheltered training pool that stays usable in the rain, and a refreshed wading pool with water cannons and fountains for small children. It gets busy on hot weekend afternoons and during school holidays. ActiveSG shows real-time pool capacity, which is worth a glance before you pack the swim bag.
Hougang Stadium
A field with an eight-lane running track, resurfaced during the upgrade. Around it are two adult fitness stations, two full basketball courts, a 3×3 basketball court and an open multi-use space for mass exercise and free play. Early risers can use the side gate from 4.30am.
How to book and pay
- Get the ActiveSG app or use the ActiveSG website, and log in with Singpass.
- Gym and pool: buy an entry pass or a longer-term pass in the app, then scan in at the entrance. The app shows whether a time slot is needed.
- Courts: search for Hougang Sport Hall, choose the sport, date and time slot, and pay online. Popular evening and weekend badminton slots go quickly after they are released.
- Programmes: swimming lessons, gym classes and sports programmes run by ActiveSG and its partners are listed in the app with their own fees.
Rates differ for Singapore citizens, permanent residents and others, and for students and seniors. See the ActiveSG gym listing and the booking pages for current prices.
Check the pool and gym crowd levels in the ActiveSG app before leaving home. On a hot Saturday, a quick look can save you a wasted trip, and weekday mornings are usually the calmest time for both.
Getting there and nearby
From Hougang MRT (NE14) and Hougang Central Bus Interchange, walk west along Hougang Avenue 4 for roughly 5 to 10 minutes. Hougang Polyclinic is a few doors away at 89 Hougang Avenue 4, and Hougang Mall is next to the station if you want a meal after training.
For outdoor running and cycling, Punggol Park and the park connectors are covered in our Hougang parks guide. For more sports facilities in the North-East, see our Sengkang Sports Centre guide.
Outdoor areas, including the pools, stadium and outdoor courts, may close during lightning and heavy rain. ActiveSG suggests checking NEA’s weather nowcast before heading out.
