Compass One is the mall in the middle of Sengkang, and for many residents it is simply “the town centre”. It stands at 1 Sengkang Square, beside Sengkang MRT/LRT station and Sengkang Bus Interchange. Inside you will find a basement supermarket, a food court and restaurants on several floors, a play trail for children and Sengkang Library, which takes up parts of levels 3 and 4. The mall opens from 10am to 10pm daily.

It opened in 2002 as Compass Point. In 2015 it closed for a major revamp under its then-new owner, M&G Real Estate, and reopened as Compass One in September 2016 with a new layout and more shops. The mall now describes itself as having more than 180 brands, so it is bigger than a typical neighbourhood centre but still very much an everyday mall.

Getting there

Take the North East Line to Sengkang (NE16). The mall is next to the station, and every Sengkang LRT train starts and ends here, which makes Compass One an easy trip from almost any block in town. The two bus interchanges are beside the mall, and the mall lists a long run of bus services that stop there.

Drivers use the basement car park. From the Tampines Expressway (TPE), take Exit 10 for Sengkang East Road and follow the signs to Sengkang Square. Weekend afternoons are the busiest time for parking.

As of September 2026, the Sengkang LRT West Loop’s inner direction (via Cheng Lim) is closed until 18 October 2026 for upgrading works. The outer direction via Renjong still runs, and weekday peak shuttle buses leave from Sengkang Bus Interchange. Allow extra time if you live on the Fernvale or Anchorvale side.

What’s inside

Cold Storage supermarket

Basement 1

The main grocery stop, and the busiest part of the mall on weekday evenings. Around it on the lower floors are pharmacies, bakeries, takeaway counters, banks and phone shops. ATMs and an AXS machine are on level 1.

Kopitiam food court

Level 4

The biggest food court in the mall, and the cheapest sit-down meal in the building. It reopened in late 2024 after a renovation, with a design that nods to Sengkang’s fishing-port past and a line-up of local favourites such as chicken rice, laksa and yong tau foo alongside other Asian cuisines.

Restaurants and cafés

Basement to level 4

Compass One restaurants are mostly well-known chains: Chinese dim sum and noodle houses, Japanese sushi and ramen, Korean and Thai casual dining, Western family restaurants and the usual fast-food and bubble tea counters. Tenants change often, so check the Compass One store directory for a particular restaurant before making a trip. For hawker food, our Sengkang guide lists the town’s hawker centres.

Sengkang Library

#03-28 and #04-19 · National Library Board

The Compass One library opened in 2017 and spreads across two floors, with a children’s collection, adult and teen sections, study seats and self-service loans and returns. The mall lists its hours as 11am to 9pm daily as of September 2026. Seats fill up after school and during exam season. NLB posts any closures on its Sengkang Library page.

Ninja Trail play area

Level 4 · 10am–7pm daily

A play trail for children aged about 2 to 12, with 17 play features. It closes on the first Monday of each month for maintenance. Nursing rooms are on level 4 and in the basement.

Services and practical bits

  • Customer service: level 3, open 10am to 10pm, phone 6819 0733. It is also a designated dementia “Go-To Point”.
  • Clinics and services: GP and dental clinics, tuition centres, hair salons and opticians fill the upper floors. Check the directory for clinics with evening hours.
  • Parcels and payments: parcel counters, EZ-Link machines and an AXS machine help with small errands.
  • Next door: SingHealth’s Sengkang Polyclinic is in the Sengkang Community Hub at 2 Sengkang Square. Our Sengkang polyclinic and hospital guide has the details.

Tips for visiting

Planning a library-and-play morning with small children? Avoid the first Monday of the month, when the Ninja Trail closes for maintenance, and remember the library does not open until 11am.

  • Quiet times: weekday mornings are calmest. Evenings after work and weekend afternoons are busiest, especially in the basement.
  • With children: combine the play trail with a library visit, then walk or take the LRT to Sengkang Riverside Park if the weather is good.
  • Study seats: arrive when the library opens during exam periods.

How Compass One fits in

Compass One is Sengkang’s largest mall, but not its only one. Rivervale Plaza, Anchorvale Village and Fernvale Point serve their own neighbourhoods with supermarkets, coffee shops and clinics, and the newer mall at Buangkok is one stop south. For a bigger shopping trip, NEX in Serangoon and Waterway Point in Punggol are each a few stops away on the North East Line. For most Sengkang errands, though, Compass One and the station below it are where the day starts and ends.
